    • Synopsis
    • Lelouch’s breakthrough movie won the Cannes Palme d’Or in 1966 and Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film and Best Screenplay and was a huge box office hit. The very simple story (of a couple trying to form a relationship hampered by memories of their dead spouses) is filmed with an almost casual technique, in colour, black & white and sepia. The acting is superb and Francis Lai’s light and elegant score added to the movie’s success at home and abroad.
