    • Hasan (65) is a hardworking civil servant, father of two, married to Lydia (63), who works as a family counselor. They have been married for 35 years. The Hasan family offers a portrait of an average Indonesian family that is supported by strong cultural values and also strong religious beliefs.

The day that Hasan and Lydia have been waiting for all their lives is about to come. In one more week they will travel to Mecca on the sacred Islamic pilgrimage. Both Hasan and Lydia have a solid religious foundation and moderate views on life. This journey is very important to them because this is not only a spiritual journey but also a celebration of the longevity of their relationship.

One day, though, from out of nowhere, Lydia receives a call that Hasan has been hospitalized. Lydia rushes to the hospital to be with her husband. As she arrives at the hospital she notices a lady walking out of her husband’s hospital room, crying. On inquiry, it turns out that the lady is also Hasan’s wife.

Devastated, Lydia begins to question her relationship and herself. What went wrong? How did it happen? These become unanswered questions.

Time is running out. The sacred pilgrimage makes her question her own intentions and faith. Lydia’s life is turned upside down. Can Lydia go through with the spiritual journey knowing that her husband is not faithful to her?

This is a story about the test of love and faith. A story about the unexplained obstacles and trials that one faces before making that great spiritual Journey known as the Hajj.

This story takes place in that one week where we see the trials and tribulations in Hasan and Lydia’s life. Will they go through with pilgrimage? How are the kids affected by this situation? Will their 35 years of marriage survive this test of their relationship? Will heartbreak and anger overcome Lydia and Hasan’s dream?
