    • Synopsis
    • Herman and Marie, a Belgian couple in their fifties, arrive in Istanbul for a painful task: to pick up the backpack of their recently deceased son.
When they go through his belongings, they find a logbook of their son’s last trip through Turkey.
This discovery entices the father to set up an unforeseen plan. He is determined to reconstruct their son’s last journey, to meet the people he has met, to see the landscapes he has seen… A ritual journey with destination unknown. An attempt to find comfort.
At first his wife Marie does not agree with his undefined plan. But eventually she goes along.
Following their son’s fading footsteps, the two inexperienced travellers discover an unknown part of the world. Their voyage through the inhospitable hinterland of Turkey, the cold mountainous East and the arid borderland with Syria, leads them to different people and places that might bring them closer to their son and to themselves.
The journey reveals their personal differences and it brings new conflicts. But eventually they embark together on what remains of their lives: a new beginning.
