    • Synopsis
    • On April 16th, 2016, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake shook the coast of Ecuador, causing tremendous physical devastation. The event left several thousand people wounded and homeless, and six hundred and seventy one dead. It lasted 52 seconds. One of the most severely affected cities was Portoviejo, the hometown of Ecuadorian filmmaker Javier Andrade. Not knowing what else to do after the initial shock, Javier went home with a camera.
      52 seconds is an intimate, emotional and experimental documentary portrait of the aftermath of the earthquake and it’s indelible impact on the filmmaker’s hometown and family.
