Op-Docs is The New York Times editorial department’s award-winning forum for short, opinionated documentaries, produced with wide creative latitude and a range of artistic styles, covering current affairs, contemporary life and historical subjects. To date, we have published 240 short documentaries, interactives, and virtual reality projects winning two Emmy awards, two Online News Awards for Opinion journalism, two Peabody awards and two Oscar nominations.
Our objective is to produce documentary shorts and series by independent directors. We emphasize creative approaches to stories that can provoke thoughtful discussions on the issues of the day.
