Description
Founded in 2017, The Department of Special Projects is a South African film development and production company that specialises in auteur-driven genre films. We combine local talent with international marketplace leaders to create films that excel both commercially and artistically. Our latest feature, the Shudder Original FRIED BARRY, released in 2021 to great critical and fan acclaim; earning 23 awards at festivals, becoming "Certified Fresh" and finding distribution in over 70 countries.
Objective
This year, we're excited to share 9 brilliant genre projects from a diverse range of talented creatives. We are looking for financiers, co-producers, sales agents and other collaborators who share our passion for these unique and gripping stories. The pitch for our commissioned remake of the cult smash hit STREET TRASH will be presented among 6 other genre projects at the Frontieres platform on 21 May at Palais K.
