L'ÉTRANGE FESTIVAL
Description
L'Étrange Festival was founded in 1993 with the aim to showcase truly original, adventurous, and genre-bending films from every corner of the world: cutting edge documentaries, art-house quality genre films, outlandish midnight movies, forgotten or underrated classics... In other words, the festival's brief is to support the work of independent-minded filmmakers - from first-time directors up to revered masters - who think "outside the box".
Objective
In addition to its non-competitive programmes, retrospectives and special events, L'ÉTRANGE FESTIVAL also features two competition strands (in partnership with french pay-tv channel Canal+ Cinéma) and offers over 100,000 US$ in cash prizes. Current objective: scouting for films for the 31st edition (September 2025).
