Serge Gainsbourg declared in 1990 « that the ultimate in snobbery was not to be at Cannes or Venise but to come to Rouyn-Noranda ».The Festival du cinéma international en Abitibi-Témiscamingue takes place annually in Rouyn-Noranda, Québec, Canada, at 600 km north of Montréal and 3 hrs by plane from New York. Most recognized film festival in Canada in its categorie, the Festival presents an extensive programming of long feature, medium and short films from all over the world.
