Description

Prague’s FAMU (Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts) has been named world’s seventh best film school and No. 1 in Europe by the US magazine The Hollywood Reporter in its annual ranking of the top 25 of the year 2011.“Created in 1946 when Prague was behind the Iron Curtain, it helped develop such iconoclastic filmmakers as Miloš Forman, Ivan Passer, Agnieszka Holland, Emir Kusturica and Jirí Menzel and served as a hub for student rebels during Czechoslovakia’s Velvet Revolution,”

Objective

FAMU students have directed short films, fiction films and documentaries, often more than mere exercises, some of these films are genuine works containing the seeds of new talent, which have been selected and rewarded at many festivals (Cannes Film Festival, Berlin Film Festival, Clermont Ferrand…) FAMU launched also a MEDIA supported training programme MIDPOINT - as a professional script development and film dramaturgy training platform aimed at narrative film projects.
