Objective

The 37th LUCAS – International Children’s Film Festival takes place from September 21st to 28th 2014 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. The German Filminstitut – DIF, Frankfurt am Main, is responsible for management and organisation of the festival. LUCAS – International Children’s Film Festival is a member of the European Children’s Film Association (ECFA). LUCAS – International Children’s Film Festival is organized for children, young people and adults. It is meant to give an overview of new international productions of films for children and to act as an incentive for distributors in Germany to take up new productions of children’s films in their programme. The festival consists of different competition programmes and a supporting programme with changing annual focus’. This year’s competition programmes include children’s feature film, short film for children, short animated films for children as well as feature films for young adults. Films with a minimum length of 3 minutes up to full length films can apply for competition. Films are only eligible for selection and invitation to LUCAS Children’s Film Competition if they observe the following conditions: a. Films must have been finished in the years 2013/2014. b. Films must not have been released in Germany, that is no distribution, TV-broadcasting or home entertainment-distribution in Germany before the time of the festival. c. Films must be available with English subtitles as long as the original language is neither German nor English.
