CINEMIGRANTE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

Description

Since 2010 CineMigrante has been carrying out in Argentina (and subsequently in Chile, Colombia and Uruguay) the anual “Festival Internacional CineMigrante. Cine y Formación en Derechos Humanos de las personas migrantes” (CineMigrante IFF) in which the program includes film exhibitions, meetings with directors, international conferences on human rights matters, workshops with several NGO´s and migrating people organizations, spreading and education regarding migrating people´s human rights, photographic exhitibions, street interventions and street performances. The CineMigrante Film Festival proposes describing the current problems that intercultural movements entail, tackling the migration issue in a way that has been left out by the stereotypes constructed by the media.

Objective

Our main purpose is the consolidation of a cultural place, in which the migration phenomenon can be raised and approached with a historical and systemic perspective – a perspective pushed into the background by the mass media stereotypes. Thus, this organization seeks to contribute with the development of policies that will plead for the universal exercise of rights, non-discrimination, respect for diversity, and promotion of interculturality in pursuit of the necessary recognition of identity and equality for the effective accomplishment of humans rights.
