CaribbeanTales Worldwide Distribution (CTWD), the first of its kind film distribution company in the English-speaking Caribbean, aims to create money making opportunities for producers of Caribbean audiovisual content. Launched regionally in Barbados in May 2010, with the vision statement: “Taking Caribbean films to the world,” CTWD stands out as the go-to solution for Caribbean-filmed product, offering the best films by the finest producers from the Diaspora, along with marketing and training services for filmmakers.

Objective

Distribution: The Caribbean audiovisual production sector is exploding. As the price of digital production equipment becomes more affordable, individuals and organizations are turning to audiovisual media to tell their stories and create effective messages. Governments in the region are beginning to wake up to the reality that film and television can be powerful tools to promote national interests internally and on the world stage. Simultaneously, there is a growing appetite locally and abroad for Caribbean-themed audio-visual products from educational institutions and broadcast/entertainment outlets. CTWD aims to match content with buyers and become the go-to company for both producers of Caribbean content, as well as those seeking to acquire it. Festivals: CTWD aims to raise the international profile of “film brand Caribbean” — a fiercely Caribbean aesthetic that will capture the global imagination in terms of film and television — in order to penetrate the highly competitive international film and television marketplace. To this end, over the past six years, CTWD has hosted annual festivals in Barbados, New York and Toronto.
