Description

Established 1994, Barentsfilm focuses on art house films and international co-productions. Barentsfilm has produced most of acclaimed Norwegian director Knut Erik Jensen`s films, including festival and box-office hit “Cool and Crazy”. Occasionally Barentsfilm ventures into mainstream projects co-producing films such as “Dead Snow” and “Kill Buljo”, both by Norwegian Tommy WirkolaBarentsfilm has also co-produced Egyptian “Amal” by M. Siam, Opening Film IDFA 2017, Lebanese “1982” by Oualid Mouaness, NETPAC Award Toronto 2019, Lebanese Feature Film “Costa Brava Lebanon” by Mounia Akl, World Premiere Venice 2021, and Bangladeshi “Day After” by Kamar Ahmad Simon.Barentsfilm´s Managing Director, Ingrid Lill Høgtun, has among others Produced Sudanese “You Will Die at Twenty” by Amjad Abu Alala, “Lion of The Future” Venice 2019, and Norwegian “Dead Snow”, Premiere Sundance 2009, and has co-produced Polish "Essential Killing" by Jerzy Skolimowski, Jury´s Special Award and Best Actor in Venice 2010, Egyptian “Cactus Flower” by Hala Elkoussy, Best Actress Dubai 2017, “Amal”, “1982”, “Day After…”, “Costa Brava Lebanon”, and Indian “Once Upon a Time in Calcutta” by Aditya Vikram Sengupta, World Premiere Venice 2021.
