Theatrical Exhibition
The “Apollo Projectograph” opened in 1912 and began its career as the first permanent cinema in Pécs, the first talkie cinema in the country. After a short hiatus at the turn of the millennium, it has been significantly modified in 2004, in its current function, as the only artist cinema in the region. Since 2014 we have been taking care of it as a free, independent, local non-profit foundation. During this time, it has grown into one of the city’s popular alternative cultural hotspots.
We try to give space to real dialogue with our events and meetings. Discourse is not just an exchange of information: it strengthens solidarity, helps to understand the causes of social phenomena, inequalities, injustices, it explores the relational systems of oppression, has a community-building power - be it oppression of minorities or women, or exploitation of nature. These topics have been given special attention for decades in our programming.
