- WRITERS' STATEMENT: My husband had an affair. It was an absolute shit show. Upon opening the Skank’s crazy creepy husband’s email divulging how our beloved spouses had cheated, I lost control; my rage was riding me like a bucking bronco that day and for weeks after. Our young sons knew about the affair because I was such a loud maniac. And yet, I decided to stay in the marriage. Across the world, 50% of marriages are stained by adultery and only 37% end in divorce. (I’ve done the research.) I’m one of the 13% of the betrayed wives who stayed, and one of the 1% of them who didn’t shut down and get depressed but turned into a lunatic. Good thing I have a sense of humor! Before I told everyone in our small town about what that skanky whore of a home wrecker did, I reached out to her and gave her a chance to apol- ogize. I’m a pretty reasonable person. I’d been to therapy. I knew that could’ve helped my healing to see her grovel and beg for forgiveness. But nope! I called, and before saying a word, she said in that stupid watered down Russian accent, “Jen, are you harassing me?!?!” That was it. War. But what could a nice Jewish girl from Poughkeepsie do? I thought I wanted to kill her, but I’m not a criminal. My levelheaded co-writer, Chris Niespodzianki, remarked, “You know, you can have the satisfaction of taking her down in a film. It’ll be safer for everyone.” So we wrote #Skank. No Skanks will be harmed in making of this film.
