    • This documentary has been conceived from the very depths, as from a young age, the director (Glenny Torres, who is Maya Mestiza) was told by a conventional doctor that she couldn't have children. Years later, a Mayan midwife among our interviewees, when the director mentioned what the allopathic doctor had said, the midwife responded with a shy smile: 'Take this brew, and when you decide to be a mother, you will achieve it.' Years later, when she becomes pregnant, she decides to research about Mayan midwives.
Doña Crispina is a Mayan midwife. Her knowledge of herbalism makes her work highly demanded. Doña Rafaela, with 33 years of experience as Mayan midwife, has attended to 80% of the inhabitants of her town and attends to foreigners who seeks for a natural childbirth. This documentary is a portrait of women practicing Mayan midwifery who do ultrasounds with their hands, those who respect the nature of the living and that contrast with the modern world.
It is a contemplative documentary, although we address a social problem, more than evidencing the differences between modern and indigenous medina, it is a look at that world of mysticism and wisdom in which the "Sinahal" (midwives) operates.
