    • Synopsis
    • Just like Alfred Kinsley's research and findings came as a bolt from the blue to America of the late 1940s and the 1950s, "A Practical Guide to Marital Bliss" a book by Michalina Wisłocka, a Polish gynecologist and sexologist, aroused the interest of millions of Poles in 1978, when the country was still behind the Iron Curtain and mostly Catholic.
Strangely enough, during15 years of her marriage Wisłocka hardly had a sex life, but lived in a… triangle. She invited her best friend whom she had known from school to have sex with her husband. Two woman got pregnant at the same time and bore two children. However, to avoid a scandal (unavoidable in a prudish, Catholic society), the children were registered as... twins born by Michalina Wisłocka. The threesome triangle ended up and Michalina as a 34 year old met her first lover, Jerzy, who introduced her to the sex life.
This experience inspired her to write "A Practical Guide to Marital Bliss" which has become a bestseller in Poland. I was translated to many languages and was especially popular in countries of the Soviet Camp, where it helped to start sex revolution.
Konrad Szołajski made a documentary about Michalina Wisłocka in 2001. Later he has written a biographical novel and a screenplay entitled "Wisłocka" which is to tell the amazing story of her life.
