    • Synopsis
    • The people in this film do mostly need assistance with their personal care and are living from a small retirement pension. Therefore these old people are most of the time alone and depend on the aid of cheap nurses. Mainly these nurses come from east Europe and Africa, migrated to the little village of Nusco, in order to hope for a better future. The everyday-life of the former migrants is determined by the presence of the foreign nurses. They are caring about their patients around the clock, without having any private live.
The main focus of this film is about the very intense and conflictual dependence between the Italian pensioners and the new migrants. There are racist insults, which are manifested in the everyday-life of the village. Why does this happen? How do the new migrants feel about that? Why do people, who where confronted with prejudices by themselves, have so many resentments about foreigners in their own country? How does the living together look like in a south Italian village – the hometown of my parents-, which is 914 meters high, there „where the lemon trees bloom“.
A film about the disintegration of family structures and the dealing with the problems of migration and about the everlasting search for happiness in a strange land.
