    • FADE IN:
We see the turn of the monolithic wind turbine, silhouetted against the huge, brilliant moon. The white light shines across the acres of land. A BEAUTIFUL YOUNG WOMAN runs barefoot across a field. The peace of the still evening cut through with the sound of her STUMBLING through the tall grass and her GASPING BREATH.
She keeps looking behind, terrified. No one is seen to chase. She trips in her long dress and falls heavily, CURSES and starts up again. Ahead a cliff, which we see - but she cannot. Her track marked by a shadowy line through the grass. She keeps going faster, more desperate to get away - towards the CLIFF EDGE.
Without hesitation she runs straight over the edge - down the sheer cliff face and into the darkness below.
      There is no scream...
Michael Rhodes is haunted by distant ‘half memories’ of the death of a beautiful woman. Is it a dream or a real memory? He simply can’t be sure. Desperate for answers, he risks everything to return to a place from his past, only to discover a truth about himself which is the stuff of nightmares.
When we meet Michael, he appears to have the world at his feet. Young, rich, good looking, he looks set to follow in the footsteps of his father, a respected US State Governor.
But his world is torn apart by the news of his parents' murder. Despite his rock solid alibi he is arrested, brutally beaten and knocked unconscious. With no evidence presented, he is finally released on bail to face a media storm of suspicion and innuendo.
He flees New York to seek the solace of Cambridge, England and a hasty reunion with a close-knit group of friends with whom he had shared a student house a decade earlier.
Like Michael, the friends are all now high fliers, each fabulously successful. Amongst them is the stunning Rebecca Everett, a world renowned research psychologist. But the friends are unnerved by Michael's unexpected return as he revisits their old house and asks increasingly awkward questions. Before long, a secret pact they’d made years earlier begins to unravel.
Michael struggles to piece together the fragments of his past and delves deeper into a heady world of passion, hypnosis and stimulant abuse. Little by little, he discovers that the vivid memories he has cherished from his student days are in fact founded on an elaborate deceit.
In the shadow of the huge wind turbine that dominates his dreams, Michael finally confronts Rebecca about the truth of their shared past and in a gripping climax, Michael discovers something so devastating that their lives will never be the same again.
VIVID is a psychological thriller which explores obsession and guilt, ambition and grief. As we piece together the puzzle with Michael, will we discover the truth of his memories before he does?
