    • Synopsis
    • Sofia (33) and Carlos (48) arrive at a hotel in Venice to celebrate their honeymoon. In spite of a long and tiring journey, they are happy and excited. They laugh heartily, play and love on each other while they make plans to go out and get to know the city. Carlos has traveled a lot, but it is her first visit to Europe.

Sofia takes a soothing bath while he rests on the bed and relaxes watching television. She is eager and asks Carlos a lot of questions, when suddenly, he stops answering. When she comes out of the bathroom, she finds her husband dead on the bed. Doctors, people from the Argentine embassy in Italy, and insurance agents file in and out of the hotel room explaining to Sofia what procedures to follow in order to return to her country with the body. Inevitably, she has to wait more than 48 hours to return.

Overwhelmed by the telephone calls from family and friends who try to console her from a distance, she escapes the hotel room and that night she sleeps in the hotel's lobby. The next day, after an autopsy confirms the cause of Carlos' death was due to a sudden heart attack, Sofia authorizes the embalming of her husband's body and the sealing of the box which will accompany her on a flight to Buenos Aires in a bit more than 24 hours.

After overcoming all of the administrative bureaucracy, Sofia has time for herself and without any planning she starts to walk around Venice with an array of intense emotions. Death, absence, silence, but also fate, life and its magic, the city, its people and its unfamiliar streets all create in her an intense desire to pull herself together, which makes her reconsider her return to Argentina.
