    • Synopsis
    • Andrés Caicedo, the mythic colombian writer, decides to take his life on March 4, 1977, at the age of twenty five, the very same day he receives a copy of his first published novel.
In the following years, from his personal belongings a great number of his manuscripts come to light conforming the author´s posthumous work, wich today includes over ten published works of various genres and styles: short stories, novels, film and literary reviews, journals, letters and theatre pieces.
Unfortunate night investigates the life and work of this author and the close relationship that links them. The film goes over the possible causes of his suicide; his drug abuse; his obsession for Hollywood and its destructive mechanics; the twisted relationship he kept with two precocious youngsters; and the becoming of the artists of his generation, polularly known as El grupo de Cali.
An unfinished portrait is woven through a variety of levels of discourse (interviews, animation, found footage, voice over); an intimate and particular view on Andrés Caicedo, perhaps one of the most accurate symbols of the dystopia involved in young artistic avant-garde groups.
