    • Synopsis
    • When they where children, the brothers Carolina and Gregorio Lorenz saw a paramilitary group break into their home and kidnap their mother, Ana. Gregorio saw group’s commanding officer take his mother away at gunpoint; she was never seen again. Today, more than 30 years later, Gregorio still relives that moment in his nightmares, every night.
Gregorio, now 42, has an exceptional condition known as hypermnesia—his memory is hyperdeveloped. Like it or not, he lives with the recollection of nearly every day of his life.
Carolina lives in the United States, where she moved ten years ago and started a family. She comes to Argentina to visit her brother, and finds him in very bad shape: he divorced his wife and lives alone in a decrepit apartment. An Argentine woman living in exile sent Gregorio details about Ana’s captivity and torture; Gregorio is traumatized. He is obsessed with the last dictatorship in Argentina, and spends every waking moment researching everything he can about the period. He never goes out or sees anyone.
Throughout her life, Carolina did everything she could to suppress her own history and memories—it was the only way she found to cope with her loss. Now, her willingness to forget prevents her seeing that there is a purpose behind Gregorio’s obsession: Gregorio remembers the face of the military officer who kidnapped their mother, and plans to find him and kill him.
When Carolina discovers her brother’s plan, it’s almost too late. Gregorio moves like clockwork toward his goal. But killing a man is not easy, and the way of violence puts Gregorio at a crossroads where physical and moral horror begin to threaten his very sanity.
