    • Synopsis
    • In Buenos Aires, when the southern wind blows nothing can stop it. The violent gusts of the impulsive wind agitate the shores of the city and the storm might last for days. The people’s mood is affected and the flooding disrupts everyday life. In the big city the waves of the river hit the boardwalks and stop the traffic of big avenues. For some days Nature is in control again.
JORGE VILLAFAÑEZ (70), a grumpy and cynical old private detective, will be hit by his own personal storm. JORGE has lost any tenderness after countless examples of how deceitful humans can be. In his more than forty years of career JORGE has seen it all: treacherous commercial practices, unfaithful husbands, petty business-men and desperate workers. His slice of life is one of cynicism and the balance of few reliable friends that keep him hanging. His cases involve small and naïve frauds that are the only resource left in a decadent time of crisis and lack of solidarity. He also has a trained eye for love affairs and for understanding people’s hidden motives. He is a keen reader of people, and the looks of the old man he is, make him a trustworthy person. He is able to make conversation about every topic and might surprisingly turn into the most charismatic man there is. However, his emotions resurface with unforeseeable events as with the impulsive southern storm that blows in Buenos Aires without notice.
A mysterious and difficult case is handed to JORGE. A rich businessman wants JORGE to follow her wife, ELVIRA PUENTE (60), a worldwide celebrated choreographer. JORGE has a long experience following unfaithful husbands and wives, his view on the subject is clear and simple, once the partner suspects, he or she already knows what is going on. But this case is different, the couple has an open relationship, and something is off with ELVIRA, something still uncertain. ELVIRA is undergoing a critical time in her life. She is embarked on a difficult artistic process, suffering during the rehearsals for a play that she is expected to premier very soon and that could be the final play of her career.
JORGE follows her and starts to discover a world unknown: he leaves the noisy and grey blocks of his everyday life in the city and follows ELVIRA to the Delta islands in the outskirts of Buenos Aires, a natural haven of rivers and lush forests. He secretly observes how ELVIRA, in the natural landscape of the delta, seems troubled by forces unknown to simple JORGE. One of the trips that ELVIRA makes startles and changes JORGE forever. As he witnesses how ELVIRA dances, naked in the woods, he experiences a sort of epiphany for the first time: he doesn’t know if it is love or what. JORGE cries with no refrain, unable to control his emotions for the first time. From then on JORGE starts to lose his sense instinct and becomes unsure of his detective skills.
Once ELVIRA appears, as a secret force in JORGE’s life, there is no wind that when it blows, will not shake JORGE’s world.
