    • Synopsis
    • With the election of Pope Francis, the first non-European pope in history, great hope was born in a Catholic world in turmoil. Some want to believe in a future Church Spring.

From Rome to Rio de Janeiro through Ireland, this film is a journey into the arcades of the Vatican at a time in history where people start to speak as never before to point out problems: crisis of vocations, financial transparency, pedophilia, women’s role, decline of the Catholic faith in favor of Islam and evangelical worship.

Archbishop Braz de Aviz, a Brazilian cardinal and the distinguished head of the Roman Curia; Tony Flannery, a progressive Irish priest threatened with excommunication; Archbishop Fitzgerald, the Vatican ambassador in Cairo during the Arab Spring ... three clergymen with very different profiles give us a free speech on the Vatican and its mysteries.

Christian Terras, founder of the progressive Catholic magazine Golias; Marco Politi, a Vatican expert and the author of several books on John Paul II and Benedict XVI and Gianluigi Nuzzi, the journalist by whom the Vatileaks scandal happened, provide us with insights of a Saint See on the verge of a nervous breakdown... faced with a choice it refuses to make: reform itself or die.
