    • Synopsis
    • In THE OLD SPIRIT RETURNS we will be showing how the Lakota, in their struggle against the US government, have found their way back to their own spiritual roots. We will recount this development via the stories of Milo Yellow Hair (AIM activist, former tribal chief) and Debra White Plume (founder of the anti-uranium organisation Owe Aku, Bring Back the Way). We have been given access to footage from the 70’s which was filmed during the first AIM campaigns. Here we can already witness Debra and Milo at work on their initial resistance campaigns. Spanning a historical period of development over 30 years.
A film aimed at backing up the struggle of the North American Indians for their rights and for their very identity is a film which needs to be initiated by independent producers from outside of the United States – otherwise it just will not exist in this form. Themes which tackle the issues of multi-ethnic minorities in their struggle against Multi-National Corporations (MNCs) have no regional limitations. They are the concern of all of us. To quote the Lakota themselves: Everything is related – we are all related.
