    • Synopsis
    • From immigrant son hauling produce with his father as a boy, to currently working on his latest novel in a historical Schindler that hasn’t been seen by the public for decades, THE LONG HAUL OF A.I. BEZZERIDES portrays glimpses into the journey of reclusive novelist and screenwriter, Albert Isaac Bezzerides, and how the reality of this journey, both past and present, fueled his work.
Filled with humor and defining experiences on both his own life and on the lives of some of his closest friends in William Faulkner and Robert Aldrich, as well as on his late wife, screenwriter Silvia Richards, Mr. Bezzerides offers colorful reflections to why he and his typewriter unabashedly need to keep creating honest characters, worlds, and stories.
Through recently discovered boxes of photographs, through film clips, through the haunting music by Fugazi, through interviews and testaments to his progressive creativity from other writers, THE LONG HAUL OF A.I. BEZZERIDES gives us a start in discovering this 97-year-old proletariat storyteller, and the meaning of his favorite phrase by Jung, “There can be no birth of consciousness without pain.”
