    • Synopsis
    • It is the summer of 1816. Percy and Mary Shelley and Mary's sister Claire are house guests at Lord Byron's villa on Lake Geneva. They fill their time by hosting parties for the local residents, Libertine sex and a 5 day writing competition conceived by Lord Byron.
In this fanciful retelling, there was a fifth competitor, John Polidori, Byron's secretary, a talentless want to be writer resentful of the success of his employer. After a Faustian pact with the mysterious Annette LeGrand the no talent Polidori receives the manuscript for "The Vampyre" which he will present as his own the same night Mary Shelley gives birth to Frankenstein. We learn Polidori's "The Vampyre" story reveals an uncanny connection with Polidori's benefactor and what she asks of him in return. Opium, erotica and decadence meld into a sly and stylish movie about the price of too much literary ambition.
