    • Synopsis
    • San Sebastián, Basque Country, 1998. The charismatic 28-year-old Ainara Bergara is, on one hand, a passionate left-scene activist of the movement for Basque independence, the Izquierda Abertzale. On the other, she’s a young woman like many, who works at a bar, enjoys photography, and performs with a street theater group. One day, a friend of Ainara asks her for a risky favor: to put up and hide the ETA militant Xabier in her apartment. Ainara doesn’t hesitate in supporting her friend, since deep inside, she had always been waiting for an opportunity like this. Xabier and Ainara begin to build a relationship of complicity, living under the same roof, and sharing a common fear: to be discovered. What Xabier doesn’t know, is the true past of his hostess… After all, Ainara is not a genuine left-wing activist, but an undercover police agent, who has been playing a game of identities in the dense Abertzale world, for more than six years. Six years that have torn her into two different persons: One, who holds onto her Basque roots, with her Abertzale friends, and who builds a relationship on the verge of passion with Xabier, who assembles a commando at Ainara’s apartment; and a second one, who has high ambitions for her career as a policewoman, and wants to succeed in her mission, at all costs. The dramatic and thrilling story of Ainara Bergara begins…
