    • Synopsis
    • A small town village that relies on tourism as part of the monster mythical legends in Northern Scotland is seemingly under attack from an unknown source. Locals and tourists have been disappearing in the beautiful woodland-mountain terrain never to return. When the mayors daughter is found dead a reward is placed on bringing the supposed human killer to justice out of its hiding place. A mysterious local American hunter arrives warning that the killer isn't human just as five university students unaware of events arrive for a weekend trek away. The local Deputy haunted by childhood nightmares of her fathers death in the mountains takes the task upon herself to face her fears and find out the truth. When their paths cross they come face to face with a terrifying sight, something seemingly not of this world, a beast like creature. As they become the hunted they begin to realize that this 'beast' maybe connected to the past and future of the human race itself.
The Beast pays homage to the classic horror genre of the 1980's merging excitement, danger, sex, dark comedy and gore into a 90 minute feature. Its target audience will be both 'lads & date movies' for all ages both current and nostalgic, leaving the audience entertained and wanting more with an open ending ready for a sequel! Throughout the film will be clever references to pop culture and movie homages for horror fans. Characters are from different cultures opening up a worldwide audience market. The beautiful northern Scotland locations of villages, woodlands and mountains become a character within itself. Alongside the classic horror genre the story will also ask the challenging questions of the truth behind mythical legends (Yeti's, Big Foot) and popular theories of alien hybrid genetics. From Shaun of the Dead and Dog Soldiers in ironic black comedy, to classic '80s horror movies Halloween and Friday13th in psychological and gory horror, soundtrack score, make-up and shooting style, The Beast is a hybrid of popular successful films. The story content of humans battling something they haven’t seen before becoming the hunted is inspired by Jaws, Predator, Troll Hunter and Alien. The film also asks questions about man's evolution similar to Planet of the Apes and Prometheus.
