The lives of 26 children have undergone a significant change this year. They have met Teacher Irena. Irena, a Russian immigrant, teaches at the Elementary school in Jerusalem's Katamon, a rundown impoverished neighborhood. Irena believes in harsh disciplined methods, derived from the Russian educational system. But we can also see her singing to the children, making their problems her own and giving them all that she has. The film Teacher Irena documents one year in and outside the class, following the determined attempts of one teacher to save the future of 26 children.
