Documentary - Development 2016

“If the doors of perception were cleansed every thing would appear to man as it is, Infinite. For man has closed himself up, till he sees all things thro' narrow chinks of his cavern.”

-- William Blake, "The Marriage of Heaven and Hell"

    • Synopsis
    • "The single most important work on the paranormal since Charles Fort's "The Book of the Damned" was published in 1919." -- Mitch Horowitz, editor, Tarcher-Penguin

Two opinion leaders and highly controversial authors - Whitley Strieber of "The Hunger" and the "Communion" series fame; and Jeffrey J. Kripal, world leading religious scholar - team up for a unique book due out in 2016. Listen to them:

'For most of human history, we've been arguing whether our gods, ghosts and demons were real or not.

History is divided into two ages: the age of enchantment and the age of reason.

People have been seeing strange apparitions and lights since time immemorial. The age of enchantment thought them gods and demons, ghosts and monsters. The age of reason said they weren't real at all.

We are saying that something has been seen from time immemorial, and is still being seen in the form of UFOs and aliens.

Something is there and it's part of nature. It's time to reinvision the supernatural as the super natural --that part of nature that has special qualities that make it seem like something from beyond nature.

Come with us on a journey out of the age of enchantment and through the age of reason into an entirely new era, where these strange effects can be understood.

We'll start at Loch Derg in Ireland, believed for nine hundred years to be the actual site of purgatory until 1497 when a monk who took the potentially deadly pilgrimage and reported that nothing happened in the cave to the pope, who had the cave closed, on the theory that it was a scam.

The truth was the age of enchantment was ending. But was it that reason shut the door on a reality we used to be able to perceive, or were we simply deluded?

We'll follow the trail of the rediscovery of Lucretius' "On the Nature of Things", which brought about the Age of Reason, and go from there along a twisting, colorful, often terrible pathall the way up to the reappearance of enchantment at Fatima, and the astonishing story of what really happened there.

From there we will follow the modern UFO stories, exploring both fact and enigma.

If they are all imaginary, then why did a distinguished scientist like NASA's Dr. Paul Hill witness some of history's most extraordinary UFO events? And why did outgoing presidential adviser John Podesta tweet that his greatest regret was that he had failed to get the government to release the information it posses about alien visitations to Earth?

We'll look into the parallel universes hypothesis, and the experiment at the Super Hadron Collider that will prove whether or not they are real.

We'll examine the unexplored connection between visions of the dead and supposed aliens, and offer a new hypothesis: it isn't that mind is in the brain, but rather that the brain is in mind, and the next great step in the evolution of human knowledge will take us beyond both enchantment and reason, to a new level of understanding of who we are, where we are, and why we are here.'
