    • Synopsis
    • Spectacular Movements is a journey of memory, identity and justice. A troupe of young Bolivian actors gathers testimonies of the movements that anchor their urban, indigenous/mestizo and rebellious identity. They use theater to explore these movements—the mass migrations of their parents from the countryside to their city, El Alto, and the popular rebellion of 2003, the Gas War—that sparked the transformation of Bolivia into an indigenous-led country. The young actors make collective memory into art, touring Bolivia in a theater-truck, dialoguing with audiences and demanding justice for historical violence. Collective creative action, in all its soaring possibilities and crushing limitations, propels these young actors as, imperfectly, they find their voices and project their vision into the world. Through their creative process, the youth use theater in a struggle to connect with their roots, do justice to their history, and continuously recreate their identity in movement.
