    • Synopsis
    • Ireland’s bogs have been around since the last ice age, providing people with fuel and, since World War Two, jobs. Beautifully shot in the Midlands, Saving the Turf takes us on a journey as locals reflect on everything from the halcyon days of cutting turf by hand to its mechanical exploitation to the challenges now facing communities as the industry closes down. A poetic portrait that pays homage to a rapidly disappearing way of life while highlighting the need for greater social and environmental responsibility.
