  Aga Akbar is born a deaf mute in a remote Persian village. Communicating in simple sign language, he keeps a notebook written in a self-devised cuneiform script.
  Years later Akbar's son Ishmael, exiled in Europe, embarks on the task of deciphering it. Who was his father, and what light will his mysterious chronicle shed on their past?
