    • Born to a middle class Tamil family in Colombo, Kavitha, a rebel, at the age of nineteen, is looking for personal and social fulfillment. Tension arises between Kavitha and her family as their traditional morals stands in the way of her fulfilling her dreams. Kavitha falls in love with, Arjuna, a youth from the Sinhalese Buddhist majority. Her family strongly opposes the match. In an attempt to take revenge from her chauvinistic father and her family, she elopes with her lover only to be abandoned later.
An unmoored and a vulnerable single mom, Kavitha begins another journey. With financial difficulties, she unwillingly confines her infant daughter to a catholic convent, and does various odd jobs. Lonely and desperate Kavitha falls in love with Murali, a Jaffna Tamil, and a Hindu. Little did she know that Murali is on the run from his organization, the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam [LTTE], as well as from Sri Lankan intelligence. In order to seek political asylum Kavitha and Murali migrate to Europe illegally. In the city of “Little Jaffna” in Paris, during a conflict with a group of pro LTTE Sri Lankans Murali gets killed. Kavitha is deported from France and travels with Murali’s dead body back to Sri Lanka. During the final rites of Murali’s funeral she is approached by Shiva, a suicide bomber handler, who convinces her that the prize to pay for being the lover of a traitor is to join the organization. For seven months, the LTTE training camp becomes Kavitha’s home. Depressed and in pain Kavitha decides to acquire her twice failed suicide missions on her life.
Kavitha catches a bus into town for a final reunion with her daughter, Meenu whom she abandoned five years ago. She buys a sequined glittering Saree perfect for a bride. A wedding reception is in progress. Kavitha enters the wedding reception with explosives beneath her elegant Saree. A pretty little girl dressed in a little maids dress catches Kavitha’s eyes. The little one smiles making a gesture and then runs. Kavitha turns her head looking at the little girl and the audience.
