    • Synopsis
    • Mikhail Khodorkovsky was once the world’s richest man under 40 and the boss of the Yukos oil empire. From that time, he knows Russia from the very top. Then he violated the unwritten law that a Russian oligarch must never meddle in politics. He exposed corruption and publicly humiliated Vladimir Putin. Putin had him put behind bars for such hubris.
Cyril Tuschi uses his good access to Mikhail Khodorkovsky to explore questions which remained unanswered in his first film about Russia’s famous public enemy. Now that the ex-oligarch and critic of the Kremlin has been released and exiled, the new film will follow Mikhail Khodorkovsky for approximately one year after his release.
What are his aims and hopes? What spurs him on?
Such questions are put to Khodorkovsky not only by outsiders, but also by his own children. Most urgently by his oldest son Pavel (29), from Khodorkovskys first marriage. Born as a child of perestroika in the mid-1980s, Pavel’s parents separated when he was two years old. His mother raised him alone, while Khodorkovsky rose fast and steeply to wealth and influence. Who is my father really?“, Pavel asks from his special perspective.
