    • Synopsis
    • “Heart Land: A H-Indie Film,” is a tender comedy of dil (heart) and miti (soil). New Yorker Karan Singh, who is a product of the most prestigious schools and consulting firms, falls in love with Heather, an all-American Texan farm girl. To get married, they have to go to Karan’s grandfather’s village in Punjab, India and get his blessings. Grandfather Ranbir Singh is a conservative, rigid and dictatorial man, who happens to be the godfather of the village.
In the village, Karan and Heather (and yes, Heather’s dad, Hank who tags along) end up on personal journeys of their own. Karan and Ranbir Singh discover that they are worlds apart; Hank connects with Amrita, a widower in the village whose life is filled with pain and apathy; Heather can’t seem to communicate with grandfather Ranbir Singh and Billoo, the favorite and comical son of the village, is simply trying to help them all get along.
Amidst all this, corrupt businessmen and rival village people stir the pot.
As they discover the village and learn to understand grandfather Ranbir Singh, they learn about themselves, their roots, their love and one another. And they learn about the commonalities of the heartlands of India and America.
