    • As Paul Maxwell moves in with polyandry Martha McMillan, she is with her lesbian lover, Stacie. At school, Ms. Biddy reminds Martha’s seven year old nephew, Rick, about upcoming parent interviews. Rick arrives home to find Paul waiting. Barry, Martha’s common law husband, arrives home from his job at a recycling plant. Martha’s mother calls. Martha outlines the household polyamory rules of engagement. If Paul breaks the polyfidelity pact, it is over. Competition between the two men for Martha’s sexual attention heats up. Martha reveals the circumstances leading to her having custody of Rick and her estrangement from her mother. After a threesome, Martha announces that her mother is coming to visit. She has kept her polyamory lifestyle a secret. Paul’s co-worker Molly invites him to a paintball social. Paul is non-committal. Martha’s supervisor warns staff of a movement to shut down the women’s sexual centre. At work, Barry shows interest in Michele. Tension between Paul and Barry escalates as Martha becomes increasingly concerned about her mother’s visit. She asks them for their assistance. Rick begins his family tree project for school. Martha goes on a date with Stacie. That night, Barry downs a Viagra and an energy drink and is rushed to the hospital by Rick and Paul where Barry finds out from the television news that the recycling plant has been raided and he is out of a job. Martha comes home to find Shirley waiting for her. The next day, Barry agrees to be home when Shirley returns with Rick. Protestors march on the women’s centre. Paul attends the paint ball social. Barry hooks up with Michele and is missing when Shirley returns with Rick. Martha is detained by the police. Paul has to rush to be with Rick. He reveals the polyamory lifestyle to an enraged Shirley. Shirley calls Child Protective Services. They investigate. A custody hearing is scheduled. Martha must now choose between Rick and polyamory. Rick gets into a fight at school. Paul defends his actions. Martha makes love to Paul and then asks him to leave. During the parent teacher interview with Ms. Biddy, Martha defends her lifestyle. Molly distances herself from Paul. Barry’s affair is revealed. Martha kicks him out. Martha’s former lover and neighbour, Roman Romanski offers her advice. Paul shows up at Martha’s house with a new goldfish to replace Rick’s dead fish. When Shirley arrives, Martha insists the Rick spend the day with Rick. Rick presents his version of a family tree at school. Paul moves back in with Martha and Rick. They will face the future together. At the hearing, the judge, citing from the Ms. Biddies interview, determines that it is best that Rick stay with Martha rather than with his thrice divorced gold digging grandmother. The family stays together.
