    • Synopsis
    • Nicaragua. Revolution. On 22 August 1978 Eden Pastora, Comandante Cero, attacked the Government Palace in Managua with 25 guerrilla fighters disguised as members of the National Guard.
This film focuses on these men and women and their personal stories to reconstruct the taking of the palace while evoking their passion and conviction. It is dedicated to these few who changed the destiny of a nation.
GUERRILLAS. A LOVE STORY, is a documentary film based on the spectacular action that marked Nicaragua historically, politically, artistically and culturally.
This film seeks to show the transcendence of this event through the explanations of the protagonists, as well a danced representation and a description of the emotional course of the planning and action.
The film investigates the role that each of the commanders of the Sandinista revolution played, and how women were also included within those twenty five warriors, how they were organized and what motivated each of them.
We also look at how those acts unfolded and the hopes they had that day. Have these men and women lost the motivation and values of that action? What kind of person is a guerrilla fighter? Where do they come from? What drives them to do it? Is a guerrilla a killer or someone who is hungry?
Anecdotes. Love stories. The guerrilla seen as an individual.
We tell the story of the taking of the Palace on 22 August 1978 through interviews of the different people who took part in it while at the same time recreating the event with music by different singers and composers from Nicaragua.
With landscape images, stock footage from the period and filmed reconstruction of the different situations the guerrilla fighters explain from the preparation to the assault itself. We use Nicaraguan music and various dance choreographies to present the taking of the Palace itself.
The intention is to document the explanations of the guerrilla fighters with dreamlike, evocative images.
Color, black and white and blurred images are to be used, all on state of the art HD.
