    • Synopsis
    • This is a story of a little girl based on real events.
The story takes place in a conditional town of Soviet Azerbaijan. Both parents of our heroine Ashen are Armenians. They are divorced, and periodically steal the child from each other. During the time Ashen lives at her father's place his second wife who is Russian becomes Ashen's second mother.
When Ashen realizes she has two mothers instead of one the war takes away both. The girl is saved by an Azerbaijani neighbor who probably can become the third mother for Ashen.
This is the first film affecting the topic of Armenian-Azerbaijani relationship.
We were trying to avoid politics by concentrating on the personal story of the girl.
We don't have uniquely bad or uniquely good heroes. There are ordinary people.
And there is also the child which treats people regardless of their ethnicity.
The world of the child, being built alike the Tower of Babel just like the latter suddenly splits apart… on the grounds unknown and incomprehensible to a child, people start to speak different languages...
We generalize roles of mother and child to common human concepts. Motherhood is all the humanity which must protect the life on the earth. And the child is a life itself which is in need of protection of all humanity.
