    • Synopsis
    • In Rio. Tribute in honor of Antônio Silvestre, Brazil's most important communications visionary tycoon of the 20th century, in his first dead anniversary. Antonio’s son Luis Silvestre is heir to the O Mundo organizations with his younger brother Guilherme.
In Bruges, Belgium. Inside the silent room of a museum, a motorized wheelchair supports a flimsy yet alive Antonio Silvestre, 99, covered by a blanket and overseen by his PA Helena, 48. Age-worn, he mourns about the corrupt country he has help to build over the years, while his media empire was blooming. And now, he is searching for redemption.
In Brasilia, diminutive but powerful senator Francisco Santos receives a mysterious delivery at the Senate of a painting: the Medieval Exemplum Justitae diptych The Judgment of Cambyses, by Flemish master Gerard David.
Judge Cordeiro is murdered. It becomes exposed that Cordeiro’s career was steeped in corruption and violence. Following him, Benvindo do Amaral, and then João Peixoto, both Senators are murdered. Both corrupt politicians; corruption unpunished. The murders are equal to the first in the conditions of death; exposed by the media, altogether with their dark and dirty careers. And, as the victim’s list grows, every corpse shows up with a part of the body skinned.
Tiago, 30’s, a young and idealist reporter, is put on the media team reporting the national news of the mysterious murders. Tiago leads the news story talking about the serial killer’s trademark of taking off strips of skin from the bodies of his victims, as he did with Amaral and Peixoto. All national press is focused on the case. People see the killer as a national hero, the cleaner of national congress. Headlines link the serial murders to the painting of Cambyses.
The election process begins to suffer the consequences of the events. Finally the long-standing political corruption seems on the way to be disintegrated. With testimonials on video, people talk about what “will” change in Brazil.
