    • Dougal and the Blue Cat, called Pollux et le Chat Bleu in France, is a 1972 film based on The Magic Roundabout.
Something very strange is happening in the Beautiful Wood where Dougal the dog, Ermintrude the adorable cow, Bryan the snail, Dylan the rabbit, Mr ZEbedee and Florence live. Only Dougal knows the secret behind the “blue cat” and it is up to him to put a stop to the carpet of blue that is sweeping through his home.
Dougal the dog awakes one morning after a fitful sleep, and goes in search of his friend Zebedee. Once he finds him, Dougal tells a tale of his slumber being disturbed by mysterious goings on at the abandoned treacle factory on the hill, but he was too scared to investigate further. That same day, Florence and her friends are delighted to meet a blue cat called Buxton who has arrived in the Magic Garden, but jealous Dougal has his suspicions that Buxton may be connected to the events in the factory - and he's right. All is not well in the Magic Garden. Buxton the Blue Cat has arrived with evil intentions. Coerced into action by the mysterious voice of Madam Blue, Buxton enters the ruins of the old treacle factory and crowns himself King Buxton, whereupon he unleashes a swathe of - well - blueness upon the land. Blue flowers, blue prickly cacti, blue lettuces and more. Wicked Buxton takes the Magic Roundabout gang into custody in the caves below the factory. He even teals Zebedee's precious magic moustache! The world appears doomed, but for the indomitable Dougal, who colours his golden coat blue and enters the factory to confront the marauding moggy. After much mauve madness which takes Dougal and Buxton to the moon and back, evil is defeated, blueness banished from the Magic Garden and a cool and colourful cacophony restored...
