    • li is a 40 year-old corrupt businessman who works for his wife's family-company and travels throughout San Juan province for business. One day, on the road, he finds a woman asking for a ride, but she looks so odd he doesn't stop for her. She is Helena, 36 year old, a writer that has had a brain tumor for several years. She escaped from her latest medical test to find her roots. When she arrives at the place of her parents' old farm she finds it in ruins. It's now a hotel construction site. Desperately, she want´s to travel back, but gets trapped in a lost town. Because of a strike, she has no possibility to leave the place. She goes into a bar and calls her doctor, who tells her, that her tumor has grown. Eli has a work meeting in the same town. By chance he runs into Helena again. Helena, still in shock, needs someone to share that moment with her and gets close to Eli. She tells him, that she is trapped and Eli offers her to stay at his hotel. They spend the night together. Helena wants to forget her illness and Eli his emptiness, so they decide to travel together. The intimacy that builds up in the car while travelling allows them to get to know each other in a very real way. When they get to a hotel, Helena casually finds an old tourism magazine with an article about her parents' farm. Eli recognizes it and knows himself responsible for demolishing the place, but doesn't have the courage to tell her, so he hides it, drinking more and more. Day by day the illness changes Helena's behavior, even to the point of her embarrassing Eli in front of a client. Suddenly she has an epileptic attack, and can't cover up her situation anymore. Panicking, she tells him about her illness and her unwillingness to face treatment. Eli feels guilty, angry, and at the same time, responsible for her. But he doesn't want to face reality. Helena feels neglected. The trip turns into a prison for both of them.
