    • Synopsis
    • In this hybrid movie, two travelling capoeira players go on a journey around the world to investigate the capoeira movement in other countries. Together they cross Europe and visit places such as Israel, India, USA, Japan and Indonesia. While Itapuã performs, Ella (Isabel Zua) records every step of this adventure with her camera. However, being in contact with different cultures awakens Ella’s desire of becoming a master herself. As Ella embraces the idea of not being behind the camera anymore, her relationship with her master faces strong transformations.

“Capoeira, inside the game” introduces with great plasticity and musicality the unknown universe of capoeira to a major audience. Ella is the narrator, a fictional Afro-Portuguese character who dedicates her life to accompany her master. They are also a couple and the seams of this affectionate relationship are the teachings and philosophy of capoeira. Through the resignification of an extensive material recorded throughout three continents and the use of rare archive images, the film has an original and contemporary look upon this traditional Brazilian art.
