Kenzo and Gucci are two adorable chihuahuas who have spent their lives being doted on by their owner – a famous, long retired French actress living in her fabulous Paris apartments. Spoiled, smothered in affection, and their long hair groomed to perfection, subsisting exclusively on duck paté, the dogs have it all. Their lives are turned upside down when their mother is lured to Hollywood to make a cameo in a new production. Her former agent made all the arrangements. He adores her but HATES her dogs.
As Maman, the yipping lap dogs, and her entourage are squired to her flight to Los Angeles at Charles de Gaulle airport, a smiling, senior baggage handler swoops in, takes the dogs in their sumptuous silk-upholstered travel cage and hurries the pair to be stowed beneath the plane. The dogs are… not concerned. They continue to bicker over a slab of duck paté as the baggage handler hammers a gleaming chrome stamp onto the roof of their cage. THUNK. As he drags them through the packed airport crowd, he dials his cell phone saying to someone on the other end – “It’s done”. With a parting nasty grin at the pooches, the senior baggage handler abandons them to a lowly evil henchman/oversized luggage handler and walks off, whistling.
The minion roughly hauls the pups’ palatial cage toward a waiting jet. As they are conveyed into the belly of the plane we see what the dogs remain blissfully unaware of – the destination stamp. A moment ago, it read Hollywood. But a larger, much more authoritative stamp has obliterated it. Their new destination -- Bollywood. Fate has spoken. Lives will change. As the jet’s hatch seals them in darkness, we hear them arguing over who gets to sleep on the red pillow. The poor spoiled pooches have no idea of the challenges and characters they are about to encounter on the bustling, utterly foreign streets of Mumbai, many friends, some foe… in their desperate quest to get back to the loving arms of Maman.
