    • Synopsis
    • Venezuela is at war. The country is split in two. A great deal of families are torn and in opposing sides. The year is 1815 and the Second Republic has completely fallen apart. Simón Bolívar, who had just been named Liberator, has been utterly defeated and has to flee from Cartagena with death following him closely.
Bolívar arrives in Jamaica in the midst of many hardships, without money or friends. He goes to other nations for help in liberating the Americas but Europe shuts its doors. The President of rebellious Haiti agrees to see him and listen to his proposals. This news reinvigorates him. But he ignores that there is a plot in Jamaica to assassinate him. The plot fails, but Bolívar heads to Haiti an extreme broken man.
In Haiti the problems continue. A group of Venezuelan patriots fleeing the fall of Cartagena arrive in Haiti and they are keen on removing Bolívar from the chief position on his Liberator pedestal. In the middle of a heated assembly, Bolívar proposes freeing the slaves, which shocks many, but it helps to change the victory winds to his favor.
Bolívar leaves Haiti as a commander of a small but courageous fleet, willing to give their lives for their ideals. A new battle begins, one of many that the Man of Difficulties will lead in order to give freedom to Spanish America.
Bolívar, a Man of Difficulties was produced by La Villa del Cine, Alter Producciones and Wanda Films, which in the framework of "Liberators Collection," gathered in order to portray the year of Caribbean exile of Simón Bolívar. It is a not too well known story which shows the Liberator Bolívar in his entire human dimension.
Bolívar, a Man of Difficulties was made with a crew of over 200 people spread in Argentina, Spain, Cuba, Antigua, Guadeloupe, the United States and Venezuela. It had over 3,000 extras and a cast of great actors such as Roque Valero, Jorge Reyes, Beatriz Valdés, Paula Woyzechowsky, Robny Piñango, Gilbert Laumord, Camila Arteche, Juvel Vielma, Alberto Alifa, Rafael Gil, Daniel Rodríguez and Samantha Dagnino.
