    • Synopsis
    • Brazilian married couple Beatriz and Marcelo are young and in love. When they decide to move to Europe, Beatriz helps Marcelo find his way back to being a professional writer.

In Lisbon, Beatriz becomes professionally successful while working as lawyer. Meanwhile Marcelo emerges from his creative inertia and starts to write his second novel using Beatriz’s and his own life as the main inspiration.

Allured by the book’s proposal, Beatriz starts to collaborate in the creation process of the novel her husband is writing. Marcelo is enchanted by the emotions she brings to the female character. He instigates her and Beatriz starts to answer to the wishes and impulses of the character created by him, but nurtured by her.

Feeling more and more confident about her career and watching Marcelo establish himself as a writer, Beatriz lives an important moment of her marriage, climaxed by the beginning of her first pregnancy.

Marcelo fears that Beatriz’s choice of having the child will compromise the process of writing the book and turns against his wife’s long wish. Tormented, Beatriz decides to have an abortion.

After a period of grief, Beatriz comes back to Lisbon with the purpose of changing her life and divorcing Marcelo, even though she is still aware of the infatuation she feels for him.

When she reads parts of the unfinished novel, Beatriz is drawn by the honest way in which Marcelo portrays himself in the book, especially when the male character expresses his pain for having induced his wife to abortion.

Impacted by the reading and feeling the need to get back together with everything that once belonged to her, Beatriz forgives Marcelo.

After that, their relationship becomes intense. They start to live a new era. Beatriz not only retakes her collaboration in the book, but also decides to deepen her involvement, personally exposing herself to the theme.

As the book develops the games become more fascinating and dangerous. The creative process seduces the couple, confronting Marcelo and Beatriz in their relationship and their lives for they have become imprisoned by the characters from the book.
