    • Synopsis
    • Cate, 18 years old, was sent to the big city to study when she was a child. Now, she returns, to her hometown to teach in the primary school, but her modern approach doesn’t please the rather conservative teachers.
As Monsignor Aristides’ niece, Cate had been brought up with her uncle’s godson, Padre Beto, who never left her in peace. He was always saying that she was an extremely nutty teacher.
Everything she did for the kids was misunderstood by their parents and severely criticized by both the teachers and the school’s director. Her classes were a wonderful adventure through the world of learning, a happy time with the emphasis constantly on learning through play. The other teachers simply did not accept her methods.
Someone can be called crazy for being irrational or unwise, but also for being in love with and true to life. This is the sentiment that An Extremely Nutty Teacher deals with primarily. This passion, the fundamental element in any great teacher, is exactly what motivates Cate and her choice of teaching methods. She dares to return something indispensable in education to the classroom and the students: enthusiasm.
