Description

Katásia Films is a production company dedicated to film, art creation and research based in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, formed by João Dumans and Tiago Mata Machado.Some of its most important projects are the feature films Araby, which premiered at the 46th Rotterdam Film Festival (Hivos Tiger Competition), The Residents, shown and awarded at the 43rd Brasilia Film Festival (Brasil, 2010) and the 61st Berlin International Film Festival (Germany, 2011) and the feature film The Hidden Tiger, awarded in several brazilian festivals in 2014, with it’s international première in the Hamburg Film Festival, 2015. Both of them won the Grand Prize of the Film Festival of Tiradentes, one of the most important film festivals in Brazil. Besides that, Katásia worked as an associate producer of the film Baronesa, directed by Juliana Antunes, which also won the Grand Prize at Tiradentes Film Festival.Another feature film, The Nightsleepers, directed by Tiago Mata Machado, is now in the stage of post-production, and will be realeased until the end of 2017Katásia Films has also produced a series of videos in conjunction with artist Cinthia Marcelle, a former member of the group, shown in exhibitions all over the world like Black Hole, shown at the 29th São Paulo Biennial (2010) and Cruzada, awarded in The Future Generation Art Prize in Kiev, Ukraine (2010).Moreover, the company works with film research, publishes articles in magazines, newspapers and film catalogues, and curates film festivals in Brazil and abroad.
