    • Synopsis
    • Some of us choose a life of comfort and security, others choose wild adventure – a rocky road of ups and downs, of risk, danger and ultimately enlightenment. This is the story of one of the Wild Ones – the female answer to Jack Kaureuac’s ‘On The Road’.
In the late 1940s and early 1950s, when a woman was expected to stay in the kitchen, Birgitta Stenberg left her home in Sweden searching for another kind of life in cities like Paris, Rome and New York. She took drugs, partied all night long, indulged in promiscuous sex and lusted after excitement and adventure. Now in her 80’s, a successful author of many books, she sets out on a new journey to revisit her past: the lovers – both men and women - the friends – ‘the wild ones’ and the places and jaunts that inspired her.
This is not just the story of a remarkable woman searching for her own independence but also the story of a pioneer for women’s rights, for gay rights, for the whole youth / hippy movement that culminated in the 60’s and it’s a story of the people that shaped the way we all live today.
